Anne Cambon-Thomsen is a French medical doctor specialised in human immunogenetics and health ethics, now Emeritus Research Director at CNRS, in an epidemiology and public health unit of Inserm and University Toulouse III. She published on human population genetics, transplantation immunogenetics, autoimmunity, biobanks, societal, ethical and policy aspects of genomics and biotechnologies. She is presently member of the European Group on Ethics of Science and New Technologies and a co-leader of the Ethics, regulatory and societal implications” working group of the French plan for genomic medicine 2025. She is also member of the international data policy committee of CODATA - the Committee on Data of the International Science Council (ISC) -, the governing board of EuroScience, the Directoire of MURS (Universal Movement for Scientific Responsibility) ; she is an ambassador of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) where she co-leads the interest group SHARC (Sharing Reward and Credit) ans the founder of the BRIF concept (Bioresource research impact framework); she has a strong record of past activities in ethics and scientific bodies ; she previously directed two research Units on human immunogenetics and on population genetics, a research team on genomics and public health and a societal platform and was the first co-director-coordinator the Common Service ELSI (Ethical, legal and societal implications) of BBMRI-ERIC, the European infrastructure on biobanking and biomolecular resources. She has a large experience of European and international projects.

Interests and activities
Active supporter of science communication, open science, health information literacy, and gender equity in research.
She promotes and carries on multidisciplinary research, cooperation and training for public health, mainly focused on communication, dissemination and use of health care information addressed to different targets in Europe, Latin America, Africa.
She takes part and organizes conferences, workshops, exhibitions, science festivals and training courses on general and specific health-related issues addressed to both researchers and the general public, including students.
Main projects: Coordinator of the EU FP7 Project NECOBELAC (www.necobelac.eu, 2009-2012), a network of academic and research institutions in Europe and Latin America involved in research and training in scientific writing and open access publishing. Member of the Italian task force of the FP7 MedOAnet project (www.medoanet.eu, 2001-2013) in support of Open Access policies in Southern Europe; responsible of the Dissemination Unit of the Progetto Nazionale Amianto (National Asbestos Project) financed by the Italian Ministry of Health (2013-2014); responsible for training in communication within the CASA project in Ethiopia (2014 ongoing); responsible for projects of historical heritage in public health (history of public health; preservation of scientific instruments, oral memories, pictures).
